The application of medical knowledge to the investigation of crime, particularly the conduction of postmortem and medico-legal examinations and techniques for the detection of poisons and trace evidence materials etc. is described as Forensic Medicine.
About the department:
TThe Forensics department is headed by Prof. Muhammad Iqbal Mughal (MBBS, DTCD, DMJ & M. Phil). Having almost over 30 years of teaching experience in Forensic Medicine at undergraduate & postgraduate levels, Prof. Mughal is celebrated as a renowned and talented educator. He has served previously at NMC, King Edward Medical University, PGMI and SIMS, and has 35 research papers to his credit.
The department has a well-organized museum containing a variety of teaching materials, such as pictures & models depicting various forms of violence, weapons of assault, autopsy instruments, poisons etc. Additionally, the department has a toxicology/serology lab.
